The French charcoal industry :
France is one of the last industrialized country to
have a important domestic charcoal production (about
60 000 tons a year). One of the main reason is the large
forest park the country still boasts. The wood industry
and forest upkeep organisms emits large quantities of
untreated wood sub products which are prime raw materials
for the charcoal industry (it is important to notice
that no tree is felled to produce charcoal).
Production sites are located nearby large forest and
wood related industries. Depending of the type of wood
grown and used, the wood essence will vary from a region
to the other. In the “Landes” region, charcoal
is made from pine. The result is a light charcoal, very
easy to light, that burns very hot but not as long as
some of the heavier charcoals. Oak charcoal, with the
same carbon rate than pine charcoal, will be more difficult
to light, burn a slightly longer time, but not as hot.
Contrarily from what most people think, oak charcoal
comes primarily from the bark of the tree as the wood
itself is too precious to burn into charcoal.

Charcoal for barbecue
Produced in an industrial oven LAMBIOTTE, category A,
conform with the NFB 55101 norm, DIN 51749 norm and
the NBN M11-001 norm.
Quality guaranteed for retail chains and
independent stores
Palettes are wrapped up in a water-proof and sun-proof
plastic film allowing them to be stocked outside for
up to 6 months. We strive to keep enough inventory to
supply possible demand surges due to particularly good
weather conditions. We are continually working on our
logistic processes to have the right products, at the
right place, at the right time.
Quality for the end consumers
Our charcoal is easy to light, dust free, with a high
carbon rate, insuring a product that burns hot and for
a long time. A good barbecue is a healthy cooking process,
removing a lot of fat from the food.
Environmentally friendly
The LAMBIOTTE carbonisation process presents no danger
neither for global warming or the release of toxic waste
in the atmosphere. The CO2 released during the wood
combustion is not added to the existing amount of gas
present in the atmosphere: it simply puts it back where
it was before being captured in the wood. Other gas
are being burnt and destroyed in the production process.
Moreover, no trees are cut specifically for the charcoal
industry. Raw materials come from non-treated sub-products
of the wood industry and from forests managed by organisms
whom primary goal is the upkeep and growth of the forest
park.
An evolving market
More and more end consumers are realizing the differences
existing between good quality and bad quality charcoal.
This feeling is important and retailers can no longer
ignore the demand for a quality product.
